Research

I have always had a interdisciplinary bent to my approach to science, and have been fortunate to get to frequently explore the exciting space where two (or more) fields collide.

This is apparent from my academic history:

  • Started with a B.A. in Physics from UC Berkeley (studying Martian Aeronomy at the Space Sciences Lab) and Prof. Robert Lin
  • Moved on to a Ph.D. in Materials Science studying quantum dot photovoltaics with Prof. Paul Alivisatos
  • Joint UC Berkeley-Stanford postdoc with Profs. Philip Wong and Bruno Olshausen studying neuromorphic computing and emerging memory
  • Research scientist at Baidu Research, USA studing deep learning in recurrent neural networks with application to speech recognition

Here's a list of my work, which you can also find on my Google Scholar page.
